WW4: Desdemona
I was feeling a bit vulnerable a few weeks ago, and I decided that might be a good moment to record a little Desdemona for you.
In this (very short!) monologue, she’s trying to make sense of Othello’s sudden horrible treatment of her…. and his unfathomable accusation that she is a ‘whore’.
Don’t worry: Edward is in his usual spot being the ever attentive audience member. But you can’t see little Jane because she’s in my lap! So here’s a pic of her being cute to tide you over.
Hopefully back with less talking and more typing next week.

Oooh, I’m glad I checked in! Bonus Jane pic! I caught the episode a couple of days ago, and now I’m doubly impressed that you were able to do an entire monologue while balancing a cat on your knee. There really should be an Oscar category for that…

Haha awwww thank you for stopping by!! Can’t leave out little Jane! I have an outtake from another monologue where she has hurled herself at my shoulders and I keep going as she clings on for dear life with her claws hahaha …. cinematic gold, I tell ya!

Hahaha! You kept going? Nothing that happens on stage is ever going to faze you after that! 😂

Excuse me, I can’t type for a bit because I’m applauding too enthusiastically! Edward is watching your performance with rapt attention for good reason. (Well, plus you are his Giver of Food and he’s probably wondering if it’s snack time.) And if there’s ever a role for a person who can balance a cat on her knee while soliloquizing YOU have that part in the bag!!!

Hahaha why thank you! I’ll be keeping an eye out for any and all cat-lap audition postings. Thanks so much for watching, Tammy! 🙂

Bravo, Weekes. 🙂 You are such a talented and expert channeler of Shakespeare. Just, wow. I (like Edward, quite obviously in the clip) am transported by the way you translated D’s hurt bewilderment (I must remind myself of the plot of Othello next chance I get!). Thanks for sharing another great performance! Hope the classes are going swimmingly! 🙂

Thank you so much, Shirley!! Poor Desdemona has it really rough… her needless, senseless murder is the ultimate tragedy. It’s tricky doing these scaled down versions as I’m normally a very physically expressive actor, but it’s nice to quiet the focus and listen to the text. Thank you again for stopping by!

Well if they have drunk Shakespeare, why not Shakespeare with cats on stage?
Nice to see you’re keeping your acting chops honed.

Missed reading, listening here for awhile. My rapid London visit, holidays, and work on getting lots of material ready for the U. S. National Poetry Month in April had put my blog reading way behind for the past few weeks.
